Ashland University’s Homeschool and Classical Learning Center was designed to help homeschooled and classical learning students transition into higher education with ease. The center is for students in grades 7 through 12, and offers the following benefits:

  • Workshops for students
  • Free tutoring – one-on-one or group tutoring
    (offered in math, science, English and foreign languages)
  • Recreational opportunities
  • Engagement with other homeschooled students
  • Access to curricula and other resources

Tutoring

We will pair your student with a college student who will offer tutoring in the HCLC building at a time convenient to both you and the tutor. Most high school subjects are offered for tutoring.

Workshops

Jane Austen Book Club: "Emma" 

Over the course of six weeks, we'll immerse ourselves in the delightful world of Jane Austen's "Emma." We'll discuss the nuances of the novel's characters, plot twists and Austen's signature wit. Our journey will culminate in a special screening on the movie "Clueless," where we'll compare and contrast its modern adaptation with the original text. We'll explore themes of social class, romance and personal growth, making connections between the Regency Era and contemporary teen culture. Join us for an engaging exploration of literature, cinema and the timeless appeal of Austen's classic tale!

Meet Theresa Watson

Theresa is the coordinator of the brand new Homeschool and Classical Learning Center at Ashland University. She is a local experienced homeschool mom with a 17-year track record, guiding her five daughters through the educational journey. Having successfully graduated four of her girls, all of whom seamlessly transitioned to college, she brings a wealth of hands-on experience and a deep understanding of homeschooling dynamics.

With a unique blend of homeschooling expertise and a proven track record in community leadership, she remains dedicated to enhancing the homeschooling experience for her family and the local community. Her journey is a testament to her unwavering commitment to education and community enrichment.
