
Dr. Tom Dence
Bio
Dr. Thomas Dence earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio; a Master of Art degree in Mathematics from the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado; and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mathematics from Colorado State University, Ft. Collins, Colorado. Dr. Dence joined Ashland University in 1984. He was the chairman of the Department of Mathematics of Computer Science between 1989 and 1998. He has taught a variety of mathematics courses including Calculus & Analytic Geometry (I, II, III), Differential Equations, Finite Mathematics, Classical Analysis, Elementary Statistics, Operations Research, Numerical Analysis, Number Theory, History of Mathematics, and Senior Seminar. Dr. Dence's research interests include Number Theory, Classical Analysis, and Mathematical Programming. He is a member of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and the American Mathematical Society (AMS).
